Stars that spawn within solid ground will fly through blocks until reaching open space and only then become solid, affording the weapon continued usefulness while underground.Equipment that increases melee speed, such as Shadow armor, will increase the speed of the falling star. Therefore, clicking at the very bottom of the screen will cause the star to fall in a nearly straight line, while clicking at the top of the screen will cause the angle of its trajectory to vary wildly. The star projectile spawns approximately 38 tiles above the player and (horizontally) up to 12 tiles away from the cursor's location, in the opposite direction the player is facing. This sword can identify caves and other unlit areas due to the particles lighting up for a brief period. The sword's particles contain all of the ones from the swords it is made from: Muramasa (upright cross), Volcano (diagonal cross), Blade of Grass (small bubbles), and Light's Bane/Blood Butcherer (large bubbles). This is due to the Night's Edge being added prior to the Crimson biome. It also has a similar look to the Light's Bane, not like the Blood Butcherer. The Night's Edge resembles a Corruption-themed sword because of the particles it emits, regardless of the crafting recipe. It appears in Dungeon Defenders 2 as the Phantom's Edge. The Night's Edge is available as a real-life toy, produced by Jazwares. The four swords used to craft it all represent a major difficult pre-Hardmode biome: The Blade of Grass represents the Jungle, the Muramasa the Dungeon, the Volcano The Underworld, the Lights Bane and Blood Butcherer, the Corruption and the Crimson, respectively. The Night's Edge is the only item crafted at an Altar that is not a boss-summoning item.Nonetheless, it is still the strongest pre-Hardmode sword except on Windows Phone and 3DS, where Phasesabers are already available pre-Hardmode. Before the 1.1 update, the Night's Edge was the strongest sword in the game, although it has been dethroned since.Due to its reach and high base damage, It is a great sword to use against the Wall Of Flesh since it can hit its multiple different hitboxes.Note that this can be made up for with the Flask of Poison and Magma Stone, respectively. It lacks on-hit debuffs, such as the Blade of Grass's Poisoned and the Volcano's On Fire!.It does not autoswing, unlike the Muramasa. It has a lower knockback than the Volcano, Light's Bane, and Blood Butcherer. It is smaller than both the Volcano and Blade of Grass.Despite being considered an upgrade, the Night's Edge has a few downsides compared to its components:.In the Mobile version, autoswing can be enabled manually, enabling the Night's Edge to be autoswung. Its components net 3 10 in total when sold, while the sword itself nets 4 (29.03% more) when sold. With the Legendary modifier, this weapon can last well into Hardmode.
